This lockdown got us experimenting in the kitchen!
So, to those of you who don’t know, we recently started brewing Kvass as well. If you don’t know what Kvass is, head on to our Instagram and read our post about it.
But, in a nutshell, it is a fermented drink made out of Beets (The Office fans would know – Dwight would have LOVED it and made a ton of money selling it) Most importantly – It boosts your immunity and is a probiotic full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants We would ideally spend Easter Sunday with the family or at a boozy brunch with friends. However, since Covid-19 has ensured that we have no fun in 2020, we decided to take matter in our own hands and give Easter a tiny twist this year.
If you are an advocate of everything all-natural and organic, Kvass Dyed Deviled Eggs will be just your thing. The Beet Kvass gives those eggs a bright beautiful fuchsia colour and you can even drink the kvass the egg is being in dyed in after!
Here’s the process:
- Hard boil the eggs
- Take off the shells and cut lengthwise.
- Put the yolks in a bowl and rinse the hard-boiled egg halves in water
- Then submerge them in bowls of Umami Brew’s Beet Kvass.
After 10-15 minutes the eggs will be dyed. Leave in longer if you’d like an even brighter colour.
While the eggs are dying, mix the yolks with your favourite deviled egg ingredients. We used – mayo, salt, pepper and hot sauce Because of the lockdown our deliveries are limited but you can always Dunzo your Kvass or Kombucha and avail a 10% discount.
